An excellent turnout for the Lay-by Pit working party

I would just like to say thank you to all those who came to help last Saturday at the work party, It was by far the best turn out that we have had for many a year and it proved itself with the amount of work that was done.

I’ll start with the negative rather than finishing with it.
It was noticed and commented on by a few that the amount of rubbish found was more than usual. Hopefully this was down to the floods more that anglers themselves!

The positive though is that all the trimmings were collected from the Common and burnt which was a bonus.

I’d like to thank Alan and Ian for using their lorries to collect the cuttings from the common. It would have taken 5 times as long with a trailer, if not more.

Malcolm and Shirley who never miss, did an absolute superb job on the fence using wire ties this time which will hopefully last longer. (Cake was excellent Shirley – Thank you!).

David Lilley, who spent as much time putting on strimmer wire as strimming due to the debris, clearing a track behind the fence, Roger and Rod who kept the fires going.

Old and New secretaries, David G and George S for sorting Container along with others help.

Also, to all those whom I know by sight but not by name that raked, trimmed and carted, you did a superb job.

I walked around with the treasurer and vice chairman after all had gone and the lake looked a picture.
Usually, we would be commenting on what we still had to do.

So, thank you again and hopefully we will see you all next year for the same.

Glenn Shiplee (Chairman)
