Junior match – 29 July 2023

The first of this year’s two Junior matches took place today at Ellingham Hall lake with 10 young anglers taking part. It turned out to be a very closely contested match.

Most of the young anglers opted to start on the feeder method and Fletcher and Ethan were both rewarded early on with a 7lb plus fish each. These were weighed and returned.

Sport slowed after a short while so a lot of patience was required with just the occasional fish coming to the net.

At the weigh in Ruby, on peg 1, recorded 16lb 12oz for top spot, Ethan was just 7oz behind on 16lb 5oz for 2nd. And after a slow start Jack brought 10lb 15oz to the scales to take 3rd place.

Well done to Ruby, Ethan and Jack,  also to Preston, Billy, Fletcher, Aubrey, Harry and Harley who all fished a good match. A special well done to Luca who, although he didn’t bring a fish to the net never gave up and was still trying right up to the final whistle.

Thanks to all who helped out at the match, and thanks to all Club members and friends who donated prizes, very generous and greatly appreciated.

Thanks also to Avenue Angling and Crossways of Ellingham for their continued support of the Club.

Special thanks to Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and friends for bringing the Junior Anglers to the match and in some cases loaning fishing equipment.

Finally – thanks and well done to the 10 young anglers who all demonstrated considerable skill, patience and knowledge.

The second match is on Saturday 2nd September 2023.
