The weather held fine for a winning bag of 46 lbs 9 ozs of mainly small carp for 10-year old William Oakins, son of the Intrepid star John.

An absolutely astonishing total weight for the ten competitors of 241 lb was landed.

The morning was generously festooned with prizes of reels, nets and rods, from John at Avenue Angling who also provided whips as prizes too.

It was a great morning for some lads who rolled up to their first angling match with little or no tackle, but loaned items were soon to be baited with half a gallon of maggot from Angling Direct.

Cheap elasticated poles on loan with stretched elastics generated smiles all round and made an excellent outing which is likely to be repeated.
