The weir pool is now the only part of the river that can currently be fished due to access problems. This water is leased from the Environment Agency but there is no legal right of access to the area around the maltings and surrounding buildings. The club has had protracted negotiations with EA to try and resolve this issue but, to date, (2018) without success.

The remaining stretch of the river which was accessible, upstream of the weir has undergone extensive work on the trees along the stretch due to Ash die-back disease. It is now now accessible but carries a warning NOT to proceed due to the state of the trees.

Because of these problems and the fact there is only one purpose built (by EA) swim the Club considers this water not under our control, but free fishing.

The weir pool itself can be excellent with up to 10 feet depth running to 3ft shallows. Good Chub, Roach and Perch can be had here, particularly later in the year.
