Junior Match Report, Saturday 2nd August 2025 at Ellingham Hall Lake.
The first Junior Match of 2025 was well attended with 13 Junior Anglers turning out.
Conditions looked promising, a little overcast and a bit of a ripple on the water.
Once the whistle went it didn’t take long for the first fish to show. Most of the Anglers targeted carp from the start but a few opted to put a few silvers in the net first before switching to carp tactics.
With 30 minutes to go everyone had caught except the end pegs but a bit of patience and some useful advice from the Club President ensured all 13 Anglers weighed in.
First on the day was Camden, who fished feeder all match to land 8 carp weighing 24lb 12oz from Peg 15.
Second was Aubrey who landed 5 carp and some roach for 18lb 4oz from Peg 7.
Third on Peg 22 was Ria with 14lb 11oz. Ria caught some roach first then two carp, one of which looked a good 8lb. The carp were caught using float tactics rather than feeder.
It was very close for the next four places with Henry, Peg 24, 13lb 4oz, Finley on Peg 20 with 12lb 13oz, on Peg 26 Fletcher recorded 12lb 5oz and Ronnie weighed 11lb 15oz from Peg 14.

The remaining Anglers weren’t far behind.
Well done to All the Junior Anglers, it was good to see everyone catching a few fish and demonstrating their Angling abilities.
These Matches require quite a bit of work to organise so a big thank you to Junior Secretary Billy for all his efforts, also to Rod, Glenn and Club President Dave G for turning out to provide help and support, although to be fair the Junior Anglers didn’t really need much!!
Many thanks to Club members who donated tackle for prizes and the Club would also like to thank Avenue Angling and Crossways of Ellingham for their continued generosity and support.
Thanks to them, all of the Junior Anglers received prizes.
Thanks of course also go to all parents/guardians for conveying the Anglers to/from the Venue and in most cases staying to offer moral support.
All in all a great match, plenty of fish and plenty of smiles as you can see from the photos.
